2015: Microculture, a SXSW game about synthetic biology and community-building

If you were at SXSW in 2015 and visited the MIT Media Lab lounge, you might have taken part in Microculture, the interactive synthetic biology card game that director’s fellow Colleen Macklin and her students designed in collaboration with Media Lab synthetic biologist David Kong (who now heads the Media Lab’s Community Biotech Initiative). The game simultaneously forced people to interact with strangers while educating them on the importance of microbiomes in our environment.
